Nursing or bottle feeding tooth decay prevention

To prevent early tooth decay in babies, Dr. Karen Ann Hake at Lake Country Dental advises parents to keep babies from sleeping with bottles.  Sugary liquids left in the mouth over a long period of time will cause early tooth decay in children.  If a child requires a bottle, Dr. Hake suggests filling it with water or trying to replace it with a blanket or pacifier.  Also, check with a pediatrician to be sure your child is getting the right amount of fluoride for healthy teeth.
